Richmondshire Museum  Opened 1978.  Tells the story of Richmond from its earliest times. Galleries include: Leadmining, Transport, Herriot vet’s surgery, Chemist’s shop, Grinton Post Office. Reconstructions include: Fenwick’s original shop in Richmond; Cruck-house.

Swaledale Museum  The Museum is based in the 1836 Methodist Schoolroom in Reeth, just off the Green. Opened in 1973 displays cover local geology, archaeology, lead mining, farring, trades and crafts, domestic life and more. There is a cafe, shop and a local and family history archive. Swaledale in the 19thC  This is the home page for an ongoing series of essays about Swaledale and its immediate surroundings by Marion Hearfield, one of our members. Some essays use census data from 1841 to 1901 to explore the changes in migration, local occupations, and farming. Others look at home ownership and individual families.
